Kaua'i Wedding Tips With Ashley Valera Photography

When it comes to picking a venue for your wedding, the choices can be endless. Some people choose a more traditional location, like a church or temple, while others choose the outdoors, like a beach or garden. But whether it’s in a beautiful hall or on powdery white sand, there are always details you should take into account when getting married in Kaua’i.

Here are few pointers to keep in mind:

Know The Weather.

the Garden Island is famous for its breathtaking waterfalls, rivers and vegetation all due to  plentiful rainfall. In fact, the wettest place on earth is on Kauai. So if you want ideal conditions for your photographs, remember to communicate with your photographer. The weather is fantastic all year!

Choosing A Wedding Date.

What happens if you can’t book the idea date? No worries, check out my next tip.

Get To Know The Island.

The North Shore is known for its lush vegetation and very wet climate, ideal for weddings in the dryer seasons if you’ll be getting married outdoors. But if you find yourself unable to book the dates you want and are unsure of the weather, the West Side is always there for you. The West Side, known for its dryer & less humid conditions, can provide a more consistent weather forecast and is equally as beautiful. With amazing locations like Pole Hale and Waimea Canyon to name a few, the West Side has got you covered.

Know The Conditions.

Whether you get married on the North Shore or on the West Side, the Hawaiian sun can be overwhelming for some visitors. So consider booking a large event tent! Not only will this give you and your guests the shade you need but it can also provide cover when those rain clouds decide to make a quick cameo on your special day!

Know What’s Available.

Kaua’i is rich when it comes to the available flowers and vegetation for your wedding. Ditch the more common mainland flowers that may come at a premium due to shipping costs and explore some of Kauai’s amazing nurseries. Oh, and don’t forget fruits. Yes, I said fruits!

Quick tip:

Consider lining the aisle with pineapples, giving your guests something to take home, enjoy, and replant!

Know The Traditions.

Whether you prefer a more traditional ceremony, or something more unique to you and your partner, Hawaii has plenty of old and beautiful marriage traditions.
